TRAPPERS EXCEL AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Northwest College wrestling team continued its climb back to the top of the NJCAA national championship standings with a strong weekend on the mat, finishing seventh as a team and bringing back four All-Americans, including a finalist, after a busy two days in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

TRAPPERS DOMINATE NJC AT APODACA DUALS

Welcoming in some of the top wrestlers across the country the Northwest College wrestling team rolled past Northeastern Junior College 41-10 on Friday night at the Apodaca Duals before falling to Western Wyoming 36-10 on Saturday.

Competing against the top junior college teams from across the nation, the Northwest College wrestling team fought through seven duals in two days, ending with a 4-3 record and a sixth place finish at the NJCAA Coaches Duals in Miami, Oklahoma.

Competing against the top junior college teams from across the nation, the Northwest College wrestling team fought through seven duals in two days, ending with a 4-3 record and a sixth place finish at the NJCAA Coaches Duals in Miami, Oklahoma.

Jesse Thornton (top) earned a third place finish at 174 pounds in Montana. Northwest finished competitions for the first semester and will return to the mat at the NJCAA National Duals in January.

TRAPPER WRESTLING STRONG IN MONTANA

Heading into Montana for the final competitions of the first semester the Northwest College wrestling team finished strong, earning five top-three finishes and 11 placers overall at the Battle of the Rockies Open, while also competing at the Battle of the Rockies Duals on Friday.

TRAPPER WRESTLING DOMINATES ON ROAD TRIP

Two dual wins helped propel the Northwest College wrestling team to a strong weekend on the road. The Trappers rallied to defeat host Northeastern Junior College 31-19 and Otero Junior College 46-3 on Thursday in Sterling, Colorado, before a strong showing at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, with several wrestlers grabbing top finishes at the competitive Younes Hospitality Open on Saturday.

Competing at home for the first time this season gave the Northwest College men’s wrestling team a boost as they defeated the University of Providence 32-12 on Friday before losing to Western Wyoming Community College 43-6 on Tuesday night.
