Eight wrestlers will be making their way to the NJCAA National Championships next weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa, after the Northwest College wrestling team excelled in the NJCAA Plains District Championships at home this past weekend.
Back on the road after the Apodacas the Northwest College wrestling team made a quick trip to Rock Springs to take on Trinidad State, defeating the Trojans 35-24.
Nearly three months competing away from home will come to an end for the Northwest College wrestling team, as they host the Apodaca Duals on Friday and Saturday. That will be the first action after returning home from the NJCAA Coaches Duals on Jan. 12 and 13 in Miami, Oklahoma, where the Trappers had strong individual performances but finished 1-3 in duals.
The Northwest College wrestling team battled hard at the Battle of the Rockies Duals and Open in Great Falls, Montana. The Trappers split a pair of duals on Friday before placing seven wrestlers on Saturday to wrap up first semester action.
Bouncing back on the road last weekend the Northwest College wrestling team earned a pair of dual victories over Northeastern Junior College and Otero Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, before finishing the trip at the Younes Hospitality Open at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
The No. 8-ranked Northwest College wrestling team fell in an early season test against defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Western Wyoming in Rock Springs 50-3 on Saturday.
After a resurgence in the 2022-23 season, the Northwest College wrestling team will open its season at home this Saturday in Cabre Gym.
